GOVAN FIRE BRIGADE

The Govan Fire Brigade were based next door to the Govan Police Station at Orkney Street for many years before moving to a custom built unit 100 yards away at the corner of Govan Road and Orkney Street, replacing the building that contained The Plaza Cafe, The Old Vic, The Welcome Inn and others.

THE JAMES WATT STREET FIRE
THE IBROX DISASTER.

The 2001 BELLS PUMPATHON

The 2001 Bells Pumpathon is taking place on Sunday 16th September.
The event starts with a parade of fire engines leaving George Square at 11.00hrs then making it's way to Spiers Wharf Port Dundas, where the public will be able to see almost 100 years of firefighting technology.
This is now the biggest event of it's kind in Scotland.
