The Falls of Clyde is the last full-rigged iron sailing ship in the world.
Built by Russell and Co., of Port Glasgow, she was launched in 1878, the first of nine vessels built for the Glasgow-based Falls Line.
Her designer was William Todd Lithgow, who eventually took over the yard and, under his own name, built it into one of the world's greatest shipyards.
In 1879 the Falls of Clyde sailed from Greenock on her maiden voyage to Karachi and over the next 20 years she travelled between Britain and India and around the Pacific.
In 1898 she came under American ownership and two years later was re-rigged as a barque.
She completed her last voyage in 1921.
A Hawaiian group stepped in and moved her to Honolulu where she was restored to her original state, partly by Sir William Lithgow, her designer's grandson.

Opened to the public in 1968, she is now on display at the Hawaii Maritime Centre.
