*

Captain Cook The "Captain Cook" shown in the picture under her original name: "Letitia". The "Captain Cook" started life in 1925 as the "Letitia", built by Fairfields in Govan for the Donaldson Line, as a transatlantic passenger ship.
In 1939 she was fitted out as an armed merchant cruiser and later used as a troop transport and a Canadian hospital ship.
In 1946 she was taken over by the Ministry of Transport for troopship duties, and renamed the "Empire Brent" but still operated by the Donaldson Line.
In 1952 she was renamed the "Captain Cook" and used on the New Zealand, Australian and Canada emigrant run.
She was scrapped at Inverkeithing in 1960.
