ARCADIA

*

Arcadia ARCADIA (29,871 gross tons), was built in 1954 by John Brown & Co for her owners,
The P & O Steam Navigation Company.
She was the second P&O ship with the name Arcadia and carried 1400 passengers and 700 crew.
For most of her career she carried passengers to Australia and also later did many Pacific cruises.
In 1976 she was based permanently in Australia.
She was sold and broken up in 1979.
The name Arcadia is taken from the mythological region of rural happiness in southern Greece.
